This hotel is located in downtown Sonora a bit further down main street aka Washington street. The hotel is within easy walking distance of grocery stores, multiple restaurants and shops for clothing, souvenirs, etc. One of the closest restaurants is the Hong Kong Garden restaurant. This has been a Chinese restaurant for as long as Esperanza and David can remember.

The Sonora Inn

The bride worked as a house keeper in this historic hotel as a teenager. Located in the very center of downtown Sonora, the hotel is within easy walking distance of grocery stores, multiple restaurants, art galleries and shops for clothing, souvenirs, etc.

At least one guest on Trip Advisor reported the hotel as haunted. But Esperanza never saw a ghost while working there.

Gunn House Hotel

286 S Washington St, Sonora, CA 95370, USA
(209) 532-3421

Located in downtown Sonora within an easy walk of grocery stores, multiple restaurants and lots of shops for clothing, souvenirs, etc. This historic hotel was established in 1850, so its a little funky due to the age of the building. The layout is unusual and theres a bit of warping in the floor, slightly askew doorways and the like. But the staff is lovely and the view of the town from the balcony is delightful. We have some dear friends who stay at The Gunn House every time they visit Sonora.

This hotel also shows up on Spirit Maps as a haunted location. (More than one gun battle likely occurred in the hotel's saloon during the gold rush era.)

Fallon Hotel

11175 Washington St, Columbia, CA 95310, USA
(209) 532-1470

This hotel is located in Columbia State Historic Park, just down the road from Sonora. The Fallon Hotel is located upstairs from the Fallon Theatre. Esperanza practically lived here for a couple years. As a teenager she acted, built sets, worked on costumes, ran spotlight and sound, worked in the box office and was a house keeper in the hotel.

Columbia State Historic Park is a fully restored gold rush town. Down the street from the hotel you can pan for gold, take a stage coach ride, watch a movie about the town's history in their tiny museum and visit Esperanza's favorite chocolate maker in all the world, Nelson's Candy Kitchen. It's been in the same family since the 1800's and then still hand dip their chocolates. Visitors can watch from the window while they work.

There are also a couple restaurants and saloons in town and an ice cream parlor in lobby.

(The Fallon House is DEFINITELY haunted. Don't worry the ghosts just make a little noise and move your stuff around. It's a nuisance, but not scary.)
